MOUNTAIN HOME — U.S. Navy officials expect Highway 167 to reopen within two weeks following an air show crash on May 17.
Crews are actively engaged in cleanup efforts after an F-18 Growler crashed during the Mountain Home Gunfighter Skies Air Show. According to Navy representatives, portions of Highway 167 were initially closed to ensure public safety and facilitate emergency response.
The removal of aircraft wreckage from the roadway and nearby areas is nearing completion. The Navy received approval from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality for repaving the highway.
Once contractor scheduling is finalized, the highway is anticipated to reopen within the two-week timeframe.
