Two People Killed in Christmas Eve Crash in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS — A on U.S. 11 near Hankins Road claimed the lives of two individuals on Christmas Eve, according to local authorities.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. and involved two vehicles. The victims, identified as 17-year-old Luke Davis Jr. of Columbia and 33-year-old Zebulon “Zeb” Lott of Petal, were both driving at the time of the accident. No other injuries were reported.

Jones County Deputy Coroner Ernest Hollingsworth confirmed the identities of the deceased. Davis was a football player for the Columbia Wildcats, and Lott was a nurse at South Central Regional Medical Center, returning home from a 12-hour shift.

In the wake of the tragedy, several local school districts publicly mourned Davis's passing, offering condolences to his friends and family. A GoFundMe campaign set up to support Davis's family has raised over 60% of its $12,000 goal, while another fundraiser for Lott's family has reached 93% of its $35,000 target. Lott is survived by his wife and three young children.
