A mother is dead and a father is in critical condition following a crash Tuesday night at Selden Park and Newcastle Street in Brunswick.
According to authorities, the incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. involving two vehicles—a sedan and an SUV. The mother, identified as a 35-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, aged 38, was transported to UF Health Hospital in Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.
Emergency responders from the Brunswick Fire Department and local police arrived shortly after the crash to assess the situation and provide medical aid. Witnesses reported a loud impact followed by cries for help.
As a result of the crash, both lanes of Newcastle Street were temporarily closed while investigators assessed the scene. Towing services were called to remove the wreckage, and the area was cleared by 11:30 p.m.
An investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine the cause of the accident. No charges have been filed at this time.
