One Killed in Rollover Crash on I-65 in Southern Indiana
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A rollover crash on I-65 in southern Indiana on Monday evening resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman from Indianapolis.
According to Indiana State Police, the accident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. when a pickup truck attempted to merge into the left lane of northbound I-65 near Sellersburg. The truck collided with a Chevrolet Malibu, causing both vehicles to lose control and spin into the median separating the north and southbound lanes.
Authorities reported that the Ford F-150 pickup rolled over, ending up in the southbound fast lane. The Malibu stopped against the center guardrail barrier.
The passenger in the pickup, identified as Gloria Jones, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Chevy Malibu was not injured and was released at the scene.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of I-65 were closed for investigation until approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday. No further information is available at this time.
