
ALTON, N.H. —
One person was killed and another injured in a head-on collision Tuesday morning in Alton.
Police said they were called to a head-on collision on Route 11 at Heron Point Road at about 6:30 a.m.
One of the drivers was killed, and the other was hurt. The extent of the other driver's injuries was not clear, but they are not believed to be life-threatening.
The identity of the driver who was killed has not been released.
A large section of Route 11 was shut down for much of the morning, but it reopened before noon.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages.
“Each vehicle had one driver, and those are the only occupants of the vehicles,” said Detective Sgt. Adam Painchaud. “And at this point, as far as the circumstances, what led up to the accident, we are not sure at this time.”
An accident reconstruction team was at the scene of the crash for most of the morning.
