BEDFORD, N.H. — Northbound lanes of the Everett Turnpike were shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a serious accident at the Bedford tolls.
Authorities reported that a vehicle with Massachusetts plates caught fire shortly before noon. One individual was transported to Elliot Hospital for treatment of injuries. Emergency responders from New Hampshire State Police and the Bedford Fire Department were on the scene, where firefighters covered the wrecked vehicle with a tarp.
Traffic is being diverted off the highway at Exit 13, with some southbound lanes also closed. Police advise motorists to avoid the area as cleanup and investigation efforts continue.
