TULSA, Okla. (KOKH) — A fatal accident on I-244 claimed the life of a 59-year-old man on Thursday evening.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, two eastbound vehicles were traveling on I-244 at Utica when they encountered a pedestrian on the outside shoulder. The pedestrian, identified as Monte Barnett, reportedly attempted to cross the highway as the vehicles approached.
Despite efforts by one driver to avoid him, Barnett was struck. He was subsequently hit by a second vehicle while on the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and both drivers involved are cooperating with the ongoing investigation. No further details on injuries, lane closures, or tows have been confirmed.
