Fatal Crash in Wilmington Claims One Life
April 26, 2026, 3:02 p.m. ET — A two-car collision on Powder Mill Road in Wilmington resulted in one fatality on April 23.
According to Delaware State Police, 26-year-old Rhys Newcombe of Wilmington was driving a Dodge Charger at speeds exceeding 120 mph when he collided with another vehicle and subsequently struck a tree. The incident occurred shortly after 10:15 p.m.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene to find both vehicles involved. Authorities confirmed that Newcombe succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The condition of the occupant in the other vehicle remains unreported.
The crash has prompted an ongoing investigation by Delaware State Police. No further information has been released regarding lane closures or towing services as a result of the incident.
