CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Multiple tractor-trailers collided early Wednesday on I-81 northbound, causing significant disruptions, according to PennDOT.

The crash occurred around 3:25 a.m. near mile marker 28, resulting in debris and hazardous materials spread across the highway. Three tractor-trailers were involved, with one carrying raw chicken that spilled onto the road. Another vehicle transported mail; the cargo of the third vehicle remains unknown.

Franklin County emergency crews assisted with the interstate closure, and a lane restriction was implemented between mile markers 24 and 29. PennDOT indicated that I-81 northbound would remain closed for several hours, with one individual transported to the hospital for treatment.

As of 9:30 a.m., the roadway has reopened, and the chicken remnants have reportedly been taken to a landfill.
