HELENA — A man died in a vehicle crash on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, in Jefferson County, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.

The 36-year-old driver from Helena was traveling north on I-15 between Boulder and Jefferson City with two children in the vehicle.

Authorities reported that the vehicle drifted into the left-hand lane to pass slower traffic, subsequently veering off the left side of the road. The vehicle re-entered the roadway and slid across both lanes, colliding with the guardrail.

The impact caused the vehicle to roll, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt. First responders found him deceased at the scene.
