CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ford has announced a recall affecting nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a transmission issue that increases crash risk.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration confirmed the recall, which impacts 1,392,935 Ford F-150 models from the years 2015, 2016, and 2017. The defect may cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift to second gear due to a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module.
Owners are advised to visit licensed dealers for a free software update to the powertrain control module. Interim notifications will be mailed to affected customers starting April 27, 2026, with additional details to follow when a permanent fix is available, expected in July 2026.
