Ford Recalls Nearly 1.5 Million Best-Selling Vehicles Over Safety Concern.

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – recalls nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a potential transmission issue.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced the recall of 1,392,935 F-150 trucks from model years 2015, 2016, and 2017. Authorities said a defect may cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into second gear, increasing crash risk.

The issue arises from a loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module. Affected vehicle owners are encouraged to visit licensed dealers for a complimentary software update to the powertrain control module.

Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are slated for distribution on April 27, 2026. Final remedy letters are expected to be sent out in July 2026, according to the release.
