Driver Pleads Guilty in Aurora Crash That Killed Two

AURORA, CO—On Tuesday, November 7, 2023, a 19-year-old man pleaded guilty in connection with a fatal high-speed crash last summer.

Olvin Carcamo-Meza entered his plea to two counts of first-degree assault and two violent crime sentence enhancers, according to Arapahoe County court records. The plea deal led to the dismissal of three felony charges, including child abuse causing death and two counts of vehicular homicide by .

The incident occurred on July 20, 2023, when Carcamo-Meza was driving at an average speed of 121 mph on Airport Boulevard. He allegedly ran a red light at East Alameda Parkway, colliding with a white sedan, resulting in the deaths of both occupants. The crash involved a third vehicle, injuring its driver and Carcamo-Meza's passenger, authorities said.

Carcamo-Meza is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on June 1, 2024. The plea deal has vacated a jury trial originally set for late July.
