Vederra Modular Seeks to Address Colorado's Affordable Housing Shortage Amid Industry Challenges
AURORA, CO – Vederra Modular, a modular construction company, aims to mitigate Colorado's affordable housing crisis by adopting innovative building methods.
On May 13, 2026, Vederra announced its strategy to combat the housing shortfall, which state officials estimate at 106,000 units. The company has acquired equipment and hired staff from the recently closed Clayton Homes facility in Adams County.
Vederra's founders have emphasized cost-effective designs, including a proprietary modular method called Alt-Mod, which reduces material waste and construction expenses. This approach could save projects up to 17% compared to traditional methods, according to industry consultants.
The state has supported Vederra with $6 million in funding aimed at creating 150 jobs and producing 316 affordable housing units annually. “By fostering companies like Vederra, we aim to enhance housing accessibility for Coloradans,” said Hilary Cooper of the Colorado Office of Economic Development.
In addition to residential projects, Vederra is also developing “pop-up” factories capable of producing homes in disaster-stricken areas. These factories could quickly respond to emergencies by providing both housing and local job opportunities.
With the construction of homes expected to take approximately three weeks, Vederra plans to tackle various housing needs, especially in resort communities facing critical shortages.
