MARRERO, LA — A two-vehicle crash on Barataria Boulevard left one woman dead and three others injured Friday.
Josephine Melanson, 86, of Marrero, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the collision occurred just after noon at the intersection of Barataria Boulevard and Eighth Street.
According to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling south on Barataria struck a Chevrolet Malibu attempting to cross the road from Eighth Street.
Melanson was one of two passengers in the Malibu. Authorities reported that the driver of the Malibu, the other passenger, and the driver of the Jeep were all transported to the hospital and are in stable condition.
As of Monday, no citations had been issued related to the crash. Toxicology tests are underway, authorities said. The investigation remains open.
