DALLAS, TX—A Dallas County jury found Devonte Webber guilty of murder for a fatal crash during a police chase on April 5, 2024.
The incident began in Fort Worth and concluded with a wrong-way collision on the Interstate 35E service road in Dallas. The crash resulted in the death of 36-year-old Joel Jusino, a U.S. Air Force veteran originally from Chicago.
Authorities arrested Webber, 35, who was driving a stolen vehicle at the time. He faced charges of murder and evading arrest with a vehicle causing death. The jury returned the guilty verdict late last week.
According to witnesses, the crash was particularly violent, with multiple emergency services responding to the scene. Medical aid was administered, but Jusino succumbed to his injuries.
Jusino's family stated he is survived by a young son and a girlfriend.
