ORLANDO, Fla. (Oct. 23, 2023) — Tiger Woods pleaded not guilty to DUI charges following a crash on a residential road in Jupiter Island.
Woods' plea was filed online in Martin County, where he is scheduled for arraignment on April 23. The incident occurred when Woods' Land Rover clipped a truck while traveling at high speeds, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side. Both drivers were uninjured, with the truck sustaining approximately $5,000 in damage.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, deputies found Woods with bloodshot eyes and dilated pupils at the scene. He admitted to taking prescription pain medication earlier in the day and was found with hydrocodone pills in his pocket. Witnesses reported that Woods struggled during a field sobriety test, appearing lethargic and needing assistance to exit his vehicle.
Authorities noted no signs of alcohol in a Breathalyzer test; however, Woods refused a urine test. He was arrested and released on bail approximately eight hours later. Woods faces charges for DUI with property damage and for refusing a lawful test, a new misdemeanor offense under recent Florida law.
No further comments have been made from Woods' representatives or the PGA Tour regarding the incident.
