A serious multi-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 80 in Parsippany, resulting in one confirmed fatality and several injuries, according to authorities.
The crash took place at 10:15 a.m. on the eastbound lanes near mile marker 47, involving three vehicles, including a tractor-trailer, State Police reported.
Emergency responders from Parsippany Fire and Police Departments arrived at the scene. One driver, identified as 42-year-old Robert Smith of Denville, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities closed two eastbound lanes for approximately three hours while conducting an investigation and clearing the wreckage. The investigation is ongoing, with no charges yet filed.
This incident marks another tragic event on New Jersey roadways, highlighting ongoing concerns over traffic safety.
