URBANA – A two-vehicle collision on U.S. Route 45 resulted in one fatality and two injuries this afternoon, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection with East Main Street. A Honda Accord and a Ford F-150 collided, with the Accord sustaining significant damage.
One occupant of the Accord, identified as Mark Johnson, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other individuals from the F-150 were transported to Urbana Hospital for treatment; their conditions remain unknown.
Emergency response included the Urbana Fire Department and the Champaign County Sheriff's Office, which is conducting an investigation. Officials have not disclosed the cause of the crash.
All northbound lanes of U.S. Route 45 were closed for approximately two hours for accident investigation and debris removal.
