Mother and infant tragically killed in Christmas Eve crash in Lexington, SC.

LEXINGTON, S.C. — A mother and her infant were killed in a wrong-way crash on Platt Springs Road late Christmas Eve.

Gloria Martinez Alonso, 24, and her 1-year-old daughter, Elisa Martinez, were at the scene following the incident reported at 11:30 p.m. on December 24, according to the Lexington County Coroner's Office.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol stated a Cadillac was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane when it collided head-on with Alonso's Focus near the Publix at Lake Crossing.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the Cadillac were transported to a nearby hospital with injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to Master Trooper William Bennet.
