NORTH CHARLESTON — A motorcycle accident on Dorchester Road killed one rider the morning of March 2.
The collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. near Lowell Drive, prompting a full closure of a section of Dorchester Road for approximately two hours during the investigation. The roadway reopened at 9:45 a.m., according to Lt. Anthony King of the North Charleston Police Department.
Authorities reported that a heavy-duty pickup truck traveling westbound collided with the motorcycle, resulting in the motorcyclist's death at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the victim.
The driver of the pickup remained at the scene and is not expected to face criminal charges, police stated. Emergency response units were dispatched to the location, providing medical assistance and managing the traffic situation during the incident.
