NTSB Investigates Fatal Tennessee School Bus Crash as Clarksville Students Resume Classes.

CARROLL COUNTY, Tenn. (WZTV) — Federal investigators are probing a school crash that killed two students on March 27, 2026, in Carroll County, west of Nashville.

The , carrying students and staff from the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System en route to a field trip, collided with another vehicle. In addition to the fatalities, at least seven students sustained injuries, and the bus driver was also hurt, according to authorities.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation in coordination with the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The NTSB will assess the bus driver's performance, student safety measures, and the management of school transportation operations.

As classes resumed Monday, Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools Director Dr. Jean Luna-Vedder encouraged students and staff to wear black and gold in support of the grieving community.

Vigils were held at Kenwood Middle School for the two deceased students. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has been requested for more details on the incident, and further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
