HAMPTON, Va. — A 1-year-old boy died Thursday following a DUI crash early Monday on I-64 in Hampton, according to Virginia State Police.
According to the Virginia State Police, a 14-year-old driver veered off the interstate, struck a guardrail, then crossed back and hit a lane barrier.
Authorities said the child passenger was not properly restrained, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, and later died Thursday.
The 14-year-old is charged with driving under the influence, driving without a license, and a child restraint violation, according to the Virginia State Police. Authorities said additional charges may be pending.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
