Fatal Crash in Greenvale Township Claims One Teen's Life
A crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle in Greenvale Township on Tuesday at 3:23 p.m. resulted in one fatality and one serious injury.
According to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the incident at the intersection of 320th Street and Foliage Avenue. Two occupants of a Lexus were found unresponsive at the scene. The driver, 16-year-old Berlyn Berghuis of Northfield, was pronounced dead, while her passenger, 16-year-old Anabelle Martinez, was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities reported that the semi, traveling westbound on 320th Street, collided with the Lexus as it attempted to turn east from Foliage Avenue. The semi driver did not sustain injuries in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation, with further details expected as the investigation progresses. No other vehicles were involved, and lane closures were in effect during the emergency response.
