BARNSTABLE, MA—A drugged driver struck two Massachusetts State Police cruisers on Route 6 east at Exit 68 on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m., but no injuries were reported. One cruiser was unoccupied while a trooper assisted at a previous crash when the second cruiser, which was positioned behind the first, was struck from behind, resulting in significant damage.

The impact caused the second cruiser to be pushed into the first, leading to its towing from the scene due to extensive damage.

Authorities later located the vehicle involved in the collision several miles away. The driver, 63-year-old Christopher Whitelaw of Truro, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage, and violating marked lanes.

The Massachusetts State Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
