MILFORD, DE – March 23, 2023 – Authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash that occurred at approximately 8:10 p.m. on Milford-Harrington Highway.
According to Delaware State Police, an unknown vehicle was traveling westbound on Milford-Harrington Highway near Church Hill Road when it struck 74-year-old Richard Bielawski of Harrington, who was walking westbound, possibly just inside the westbound lane. The vehicle fled the scene in an unknown direction.
Bielawski was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The roadway was closed for investigation and cleanup following the incident.
The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the crash to contact Master Cpl. W.
