DORCHESTER COUNTY — A crash on U.S. Highway 17A on Nov. 7 left one dead and another injured.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident that occurred around 11:15 a.m. near the intersection with Clubhouse Road.
According to Cpl. Nick Pye, a Chevrolet sedan and a Ram pickup truck were both traveling south on U.S. 17A when the pickup attempted to pass. The sedan was making a left turn into a private drive, leading to a collision.
The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger was taken to a nearby hospital. The driver of the Ram pickup truck suffered no injuries.
The identity of the deceased is pending release, and the condition of the injured passenger remains undisclosed. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they are confirmed.
