Newtown Police Investigate Fatal Accident Involving Commercial Vehicle
NEW TOWN, CT — A driver was killed Thursday night when a commercial vehicle struck them on Hawleyville Road near the Exit 9 westbound off-ramp at approximately 6:15 p.m.
According to the Newtown Police Department, the commercial vehicle was parked alongside the road in front of Papa Al's shopping center when the incident occurred. Investigators believe the driver exited the vehicle, which subsequently rolled forward and struck the individual.
Authorities confirmed the driver sustained fatal injuries, though their identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The incident is currently under investigation.
