Cincinnati Man Charged with Murder Over 2024 Shooting Incident
CINCINNATI, OH — Deandre Shannon, 34, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the shooting death of Bennie Byrd, 40, who was found inside a crashed vehicle on Sept. 29, 2024.
Authorities said Shannon was taken into custody on Oct. 30, over a year after Byrd's fatal shooting in the 6000 block of Winton Road. Police responded to reports of multiple gunshots and discovered Byrd suffering from gunshot wounds inside a car that had collided in front of a beauty supply store.
Emergency responders from Springfield Township Fire and EMS attempted resuscitation efforts, but Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene.
Shannon is currently being held at the Hamilton County Detention Center. Specific bond details were not available as of the evening of Oct. 30. The Cincinnati Police Department's homicide unit is actively investigating the case, and anyone with information is urged to contact them at 513-352-3542.
