Two pedestrians seriously injured in Butte vehicle crash

MISSOULA, Mont. — Two pedestrians were seriously injured Saturday afternoon in Butte when they were struck by a vehicle.

According to a statement from Butte-Silver Bow Sheriff Ed Lester, the incident occurred at approximately 2:42 p.m. on October 25 at the intersection of Second and Gaylord Streets.

Investigators report that a 75-year-old man drove eastbound and hit the two Butte men, aged 42 and 49, as they were walking south across Second Street. Both victims received serious injuries and were transported to St. James Healthcare for treatment.

Authorities stated that initial investigations indicate speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. Further testing and investigations are ongoing, with support from the Montana Highway Patrol.

The identities of those involved have not yet been released, and authorities plan to provide additional information as it becomes available.
