Centennial Pedestrian Accident Claims Second Woman

CENTENNIAL, CO—A second pedestrian injured in a accident late Sunday night has died at the hospital, according to the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office.

The incident, which occurred around 10 p.m. on East Smoky Hill Road near South Waco Street, initially resulted in one woman dying at the scene. A second woman was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, including an amputated leg, and succumbed to her injuries Monday.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims. The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office is expected to provide further information regarding their identities and causes of death.

Investigators believe the women were crossing the roadway to reach a bus stop when they were struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. There are no confirmed details regarding the potential involvement of drugs or alcohol in the incident.

The crash site is located near Big Sandy Park, approximately four miles east of Cherry Creek State Park.
