AURORA, CO—A woman died and an infant was injured in a head-on collision between a Mercedes SUV and an RTD bus Thursday evening.
The crash occurred at 5:18 p.m. at East 30th Avenue and East Parklane Drive. Authorities reported that the woman and her unrestrained infant were ejected from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital. The woman died shortly after arrival, while the infant remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
The names of the victims have not been released. Several passengers on the RTD bus were assessed for injuries; one passenger and the bus driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities are investigating the incident, focusing on speed and potential intoxication as contributing factors.
