Flood Watch Issued for All Hawaiian Islands Through Friday Afternoon
Hawaii state officials have issued a Flood Watch for all islands, effective from Wednesday morning through Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, excessive rainfall could lead to significant flooding, particularly in Kauai, Niihau, Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island. The conditions may result in the overflow of streams and drainages, prompting possible road closures and property damage in urban and low-lying areas.
A deep-layered trough expected to develop west of the islands will pull abundant moisture northward. This instability will likely enhance rainfall and increase the risk of heavy rain and thunderstorms across all islands, raising concerns about flash flooding and landslides in steep terrain.
Authorities encourage residents to monitor forecasts closely and prepare for immediate action if Flash Flood Warnings are issued.
