Kyle Shanahan Involved in Accident, Will Have Limited Training Camp Schedule

SANTA CLARA, CA – San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was involved in a car accident on July 14 and will participate in training camp on a limited basis as he recovers, the organization announced Saturday.

Authorities said Shanahan sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the collision with an near his home in Northern California. He was transported to a local hospital, where he spent much of the day before being released. The other driver was not injured.

The 49ers veterans are scheduled to report to training camp today, with the first practice set for Sunday. Chris Foerster, the assistant head coach, along with offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, and special teams coordinator Brant Boyer, will handle coaching responsibilities during Shanahan's recovery.

According to a statement from the team, both drivers were cooperative, and no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. The 49ers expressed gratitude to the first responders for their assistance.

Shanahan, entering his 10th season with the 49ers, has a regular-season record of 82-67 and has guided the team to five playoff appearances.
