Pupukea Crash Leaves 22-Year-Old in Critical Condition
PUPUKEA, OAHU — A 22-year-old man was critically injured this morning in a single-vehicle crash on Pupukea Road.
The Honolulu Fire Department responded to a 911 call at 7:39 a.m. reporting a collision near 59-479 Pupukea Road. Four fire units with 14 personnel arrived at the scene by 7:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found the driver partially ejected and pinned beneath the vehicle, which had crashed through two utility poles before coming to rest on its side. Crews stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools to free the driver, completing the extrication at 8:53 a.m.
The driver was assessed by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and suffered multiple traumatic injuries. Paramedics provided advanced life support before transporting him in critical condition to a nearby trauma center. No injuries were reported among the fire personnel.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, which remains unknown at this time. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
