Man Dies after Winter Garden Accident at Wild Blackberry Trail and Rushes Avenue
Orange County, Florida (May 9, 2023) – A 71-year-old Sanford man was struck and killed by a car Monday morning at an intersection in Winter Garden.
The deadly collision happened at around 11:00 a.m. May 8 at Wild Blackberry Train and Rushes Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
As per the report, a 22-year-old Oviedo man was speeding east on Blackberry Trail, failed to negotiate a curve, and went off the roadway to the right.
The car then hit a mailbox, tree, and light pole before striking Sanford man who was standing on the sidewalk. It then slammed into a home through the front porch.
Troopers said the Sanford man died at the scene.
The driver of the sedan was hospitalized with severe injuries.
