Wreck in Lee County claims one life and injures another.

LEE COUNTY, Ala. — A crash on Lee County Road 379 has resulted in one fatality and one injury.

According to the Alabama State Troopers, at approximately 7:40 PM on Friday, April 3, a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Cashton Canady of LaGrange, Georgia, veered off the roadway, overturned, and collided with a tree. Canady was transported to a hospital in Columbus, Georgia, where he succumbed to his injuries on Easter Sunday.

The sole passenger, 23-year-old Jameria Johnson of Opelika, sustained injuries and was also taken to a Columbus hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred near Lee County Road 2213, about six miles north of Smiths Station. Authorities are investigating the crash, and further details on lane closures or tows have not been released.
