A 70-year-old man died after being thrown from a boat on Lake Demopolis on May 24, authorities said.
Bruce R. Kornegay, of Woodstock, was operating an 18-foot Bass Tracker vessel when he was ejected around 2:22 p.m. and struck by the boat, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). He sustained critical injuries and was transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, where he later died.
Authorities added that Kornegay was not wearing a personal flotation device and did not activate the emergency cut-off switch at the time of the incident.
The crash occurred near the Tombigbee River in Marengo County. ALEA's Marine Patrol Division is conducting the investigation.
