WANDO, SC — A woman shot a man in the head while he drove along Clements Ferry Road early Saturday morning, according to police.
Charleston Police responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a 2008 silver Honda CR-V that crashed into a utility pole near Cainhoy Village Road at 7:30 a.m. on January 14. Upon arrival, officers discovered an alleged homicide.
First responders found the driver, identified as 39-year-old Arthur Broughton of Huger, slumped forward with a gunshot wound to the right side of his head. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Berkeley County Coroner's Office.
Authorities reported that a female passenger admitted to shooting Broughton, claiming he was assaulting her and the children aboard the vehicle. A firearm was recovered from the car. No arrests have been made as of now, according to a Charleston Police Department spokesperson.
