BLENDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — One woman was killed and two men were hospitalized following a morning crash on February 17.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the intersection of Port Sheldon Street and 72nd Avenue at 5:14 a.m. According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, a semi truck failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a pickup truck on the passenger side.
A 59-year-old woman from Zeeland, who was in the passenger seat of the pickup, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 56-year-old driver of the pickup was transported to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. The 54-year-old driver of the semi, from Butler, Kentucky, was also hospitalized.
Witnesses reported that the semi was traveling north on 72nd Avenue and collided with the pickup, which was heading east on Port Sheldon. The impact caused both vehicles to end up in a ditch.
