Woman Dies in Wrong-Way Crash on I-84 in Caldwell.

CALDWELL, Idaho — A woman is dead, and another injured in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 84 early Saturday.

The collision occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m. on westbound I-84 near Exit 27, according to a news release from Idaho State Police. A 2006 Mazda 6 was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes when it struck a 2014 Grand Cherokee head-on.

The driver of the Jeep, a 21-year-old woman from Caldwell, was taken to a hospital via ambulance; her current condition is unknown. The Mazda's driver, a 47-year-old woman also from Caldwell, was at the scene. Her identity has not been disclosed.

Westbound lanes remained closed for about three hours following the incident. Authorities are investigating to understand why the Mazda was traveling the wrong way on the freeway.
