WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — A woman was killed in a collision caused by a red light violation on Mountain View Corridor on October 5.
The crash occurred just before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of 4100 South. According to police, a northbound tow truck entered the intersection on a green light when an eastbound SUV ran a red light, resulting in a T-bone collision.
Witnesses reported both vehicles caught fire following the impact. The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Authorities are working to confirm her identity.
The tow truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Northbound lanes at 4100 South will remain closed for several hours to facilitate scene clearance and an ongoing investigation.
