NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 32-year-old woman faces a charge of vehicular homicide by intoxication following a fatal crash early Tuesday morning in Nashville, officials said.
The incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Harding Place and Linbar Drive. Authorities reported that Lizbeth Delgado Cruz, of La Vergne, was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon west on Harding Place when she allegedly ran a red light and collided with a 2019 Nissan Altima operated by 30-year-old Martin Villagomez Jr.
Both drivers were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Villagomez succumbed to his injuries. According to police, medical staff at the hospital noted the smell of alcohol on Delgado Cruz. She sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Delgado Cruz is expected to be charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication upon her release from the hospital. The investigation remains ongoing.
