Police identify pedestrian killed in I-24 ramp crash.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A pedestrian was killed in a crash on the westbound exit ramp of Interstate 24 to I-65 South in Nashville on Wednesday evening.

According to Metro Nashville Police, the victim has been identified as 49-year-old James Jesse Box. He was attempting to cross the westbound entrance ramp when he was struck by a vehicle.

Authorities reported that a 30-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Mirage struck Box but stopped immediately after the incident. The driver indicated that and nighttime conditions contributed to low visibility, preventing them from seeing Box in time. Police noted no signs of impairment at the scene.

Emergency response teams were dispatched, and the exit ramp remained closed for an investigation. Further details, including any potential charges, have not yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
