PALMER, Alaska (WKRC) — An Alaska woman faces felony charges following a rollover accident involving an off-road vehicle that left one child dead and three others injured.
According to Alaska State Troopers, the incident occurred on June 18 in the Jim Creek Recreation Area near Palmer.
Hannah Lebel, 32, of Wasilla, was allegedly driving four juvenile passengers when the utility vehicle overturned, landing on its roof.
A 10-year-old child was found unresponsive, despite immediate life-saving efforts by bystanders; the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three additional children sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
Authorities reported observing signs of impairment during their investigation and later confirmed Lebel was intoxicated.
Witnesses indicated that a child warned the vehicle was going too fast before the rollover, and investigators determined the vehicle was speeding without any occupants wearing seat belts.
Lebel has been charged with criminally negligent homicide, manslaughter, assault, and driving under the influence.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
