Wilmington school bus crash leaves six hospitalized, according to police.

Wilmington, DE — July 9, 2026, 2:24 p.m. A school ran a red light and collided with a car at Eighth and Washington streets, hospitalizing six individuals, according to Wilmington Police.

The 39-year-old driver of the car and her 8-year-old passenger were transported to a hospital in stable condition. Four students aboard the school bus sustained minor injuries and were also taken to the hospital, while others were picked up by family members at the scene.

Authorities reported that the bus driver, a 29-year-old man from Newark, received a traffic citation following the crash. The incident prompted a response from the Wilmington Police Department and is under investigation by the special operations division.

No fatalities have been reported, and further updates will follow as the investigation continues.
