WAIPIO, Hawaii (Island News) – An elderly woman was hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash on the freeway near Waipio on Friday afternoon.
According to Honolulu Emergency Medical Services (EMS), the incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on the southbound lanes near Ka Uka Boulevard. EMS treated a woman in her 80s who was transported to a hospital in serious condition; details on her injuries were not disclosed.
Three additional individuals, including a 45-year-old woman, a 35-year-old woman, and a 33-year-old man, were evaluated on the scene but declined further medical assistance.
Authorities reported no lane closures following the incident, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation. There have been no indications of speed, alcohol, or drug involvement at this time.
