Wilmington, DE — Aug. 10, 2026, 11:33 a.m. ET — A two-vehicle crash on Aug. 9 near Wilmington's Hedgeville neighborhood resulted in the death of a 24-year-old male passenger, according to city police.
The crash occurred around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and North Adams Street. The victim was a passenger in a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old woman, who sustained injuries. Her medical condition has not been disclosed. No other injuries were reported.
This incident marks the 16th fatal crash of 2026 involving an intersection, contributing to Delaware's rising traffic death toll. As of Aug. 10, the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) reported 68 traffic fatalities this year, an 11% increase from the 61 deaths recorded at the same time in 2025.
