Wheelchair User Killed and Driver Arrested Following Downtown Las Vegas Crash.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — One person is dead following a crash involving a wheelchair user late Sunday night near downtown Las Vegas.

The incident occurred around 11:11 p.m. on Boulder Highway, south of E. Oakey Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).

Authorities reported that a man in a wheelchair was crossing the northbound lanes from east to west outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound 2013 Optima. The collision occurred as the wheelchair user entered the vehicle's path, with the left front of the hitting him and projecting him into a dirt median.

The driver stopped immediately and contacted emergency services. Medical personnel pronounced the dead at the scene. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested for suspected DUI.

This incident is under investigation by LVMPD's Collision Investigation Section. It marks the 39th traffic-related fatality in their jurisdiction in 2026.
