Vermont Man Dies in Crash on I-89

A 33-year-old man from Vermont was killed in a crash on Interstate 89 early Saturday morning in South Burlington.

According to Vermont State Police, troopers were alerted to a crash at approximately 6:12 a.m. near mile marker 86.7 southbound. Upon arrival, officers found an overturned Kia Forte.

The driver, identified as Joseph Taplin of Barre, was at the scene, police said. A preliminary investigation indicated that Taplin's vehicle veered off the roadway into the median, rolled over, and came to rest on its roof.

The cause of the vehicle leaving the highway remains under investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information or potential witnesses to contact state police at 802-878-7111.
